Out with the OLD, in with the NEW

Why the design of our new spaces is so important:

Monday night's Magical Reveal was truly that, MAGICAL. My husband and I toured the new spaces of the Primary and Elementary schools and were overwhelmed by the thought, creativity and materials that went into designing the spaces. From safety, technology and even just down-right beautiful aesthetics, these two schools are not only top of the line, but will influence how our kids learn and perform. Studies have shown that the environment students learn in has the ability to affect their attention levels, as well as their motivation in tasks and assignments. Additionally, we all learned from those early HGTV days that colors matter in determining how we feel. Certain color tones can affect anxiety, but others can also enhance feelings of calmness and peace. The vibrant colors of the primary school are integral to the growth of their imagination and creativity, while the elementary school's cooler and more neutral tones (with some Brave red pride accents!) will encourage their focus and concentration. The new desks and seating in the elementary classrooms will provide a more comfortable learning environment that is also clean and inviting. And while these buildings now optically reflect the superior education offered at Indian Hill, students will feel a sense of ownership and inspiration within the walls they visit each day, encouraging them to build their skills, engage in communal learning, and also be independent leaders in our new spaces. I am extremely grateful for the team that led the initiative to pass the levy that allowed for these major improvements, for the administration and team that spent the last few years designing and collaborating, and all the people and companies that worked tirelessly to build the schools of our children's dreams. Indian Hill is a school like no other and my husband and I feel very blessed to give our children the opportunity to live and learn in this community.
